PUNE, Sept 23: Season player Sqn Ldr Ingale suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Fl Ltn Anurag in the open category quarter-final round of Air Force Squash championship at the Air Force Station, Lohegaon here today.

Anurag, posted at the Pune air base, gave early indications of his plans when he took the first game 9-1 leaving Ingale totally surprised. Though, Ingale toiled hard to strike back, but Anurag with his rallies and superb drop shots did not left any room for Ingale, winning the next two games 9-7, 9-6.

Anurag has another tough task in hand when he will take on favorite Fl Off Dhami in the semis tomorrow.

In the other quarter-finals, Air Force number one Fl Ltn Jasbir Singh storm into the last four with an expected win over Wg Cdr Chandola 9-6, 9-4, 9-2. While Fl Ltn Bisht had to dig deep in his resources before overcoming Sqn Ldr Anand challenge in a marathon match 9-2, 9-7, 7-9, 10-9 match, with Anand saving four match points in the last game tie-breaker.

All the four semi-finalists will represent Air Force in the Inter-Services squash championship to be held in Mumbai next month.
