The Andhra Pradesh Assembly is set to begin its 45-day budget session on a stormy note today, with the Opposition all geared up to nail the government for deterioration in law and order and a modification in the free power supply scheme to farmers.

The session will begin with Governor S K Shinde’s address and then the House would be adjourned for the day. Finance Minister K Rosaiah is likely to present the annual Budget around February 18. The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) will decide the date.

The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) executive, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today, asked the MLAs to attend the sessions regularly. The ministers have been asked to spend more time in familiarising themselves with the subjects the Opposition is likely to raise in the session.

The Chief Minister also attended a meeting on floor coordination between the Congress and its allies, TRS, CPI, MIM and Janata Party.

The Left parties are also sore with the government for ‘‘treading’’ the path of the erstwhile Telugu Desam regime by not responding to the issues of suicide by farmers, drought and deadlock in peace talks with Naxalites. Talks between Naxals and the government broke down with the resumption of encounter killings.
