SHILLONG, NOV 16: Services Sports Control Board and Bihar ruled the roost as eight national records fell on the opening day of the sixth Indian Round Senior National Archery Championship.

Ran Bahadur Tamang of SSCB set a new record in the men’s 30m event with 341 points, eclipsing the previous record of Sukhram Emran of Bihar established in the 1997 Nationals in Jamshedpur.

HS Gurjar of SSCB set a new record in the men’s 50m with 287 points out of a possible 300, bettering the previous record of Dinesh Bhai of Gujarat.In the men’s overall individual event, HS Gurjar took the honour with a new national record of 613 points while SSCB won the team championship with 1806 points, again a new mark.

In the women’s section, W Bianu of Bihar created a new record in the 30m event with 302 points while statemate Bhagyawati made a new record in the 50m with 248 points. W Bianu picked up another gold medal by winning the individual event with a total of 540 points, setting a new national record in the process.Bihar won the team event as well with a record-breaking total of 1529 points.
