CHANDIGARH, Feb 26: The UT Administration has set up a committee to document the proceedings of the international architecture conference held in the city recently to celebrate 50 years of conception of the Chandigarh idea.

The three-membered committee of architects comprises Jaspreet Thakar, Madhu Sareen and Kiran Nangia, who are part of the Chandigarh Perspectives – the society that coordinated the convention.

According to the chief architect, S. K. Midha, members would bring out the entire document within six months in three publications. The first publication would be a well illustrated one and duly supported with charts to make the people aware about the current status of the City Beautiful on the basis of the pre-conference seminar held in Chandigarh in August 1998. The second publication would have two or three volumes of the full text of the three-day international convention for academic use and references in libraries. And the third category includes computer compilation.

"The documentation would follow an analysis and rethinking session by the administration on the suggestions put forth by architects on the future course of urban planning in Chandigarh. The implementation stage would come after this exercise only," said the chief architect.
