ROOPNAGAR, Jan 21: A gang of about 12 unidentified armed persons, several of them allegedly wearing police uniforms struck at Rasoorpur village near here late last night and decamped with four tolas of gold and cash amounting to Rs 5,000.

As per the information made available by the police, they struck at the houses of Jai Singh, Amrik Singh and Ram Lubhia. They also reportedly fired several shots in the air before escaping.

On being contacted, city police station SHO, M.S. Malih confirmed that the incident did take place, but denied that the gang members were wearing police uniforms. He added that a case has been registered and several suspects were being interrogated.
