After conducting an inquiry into the alleged rape of a college student by four jawans of the President’s Body Guard, Army top brass has decided to continue with Colonel Bhawani Singh as its Commanding Officer (CO).

According to sources, Western Command, under which the unit falls, had sent a report to the HQ absolving Singh. The report sent by Western Commander Lt Gen S.S. Mehta said the commanding officer is taking steps to improve the discipline and morale of the regiment.

Confirming the move, Army spokesman Col Anil Shorey said: ‘‘Singh will continue…There are some loopholes which have to be supervised and he is doing it.’’
