Dr Rajesh Talwar, arrested in connection with the Noida double murder case involving his daughter Aarushi, was granted bail on Friday by a designated CBI court in Ghaziabad.

The bail was granted by the judge after the CBI informed the court that the agency had not found any evidence linking him to the murders.

The Noida Police, which arrested him on May 23, had also not found any evidence against Talwar. The doctor is at present lodged in Dasna jail for last 50 days and may walk to freedom soon.

Earlier, the CBI gave a clean chit to Dr Rajesh Talwar, father of teenage Arushi, who has been in jail for last 50 days in the Noida double murder case, saying it had not found any evidence ‘so far’ against him.

The investigating agency, in a hurriedly called press conference, said the focus was on the role of servants who had allegedly tried to sexually assault 14-year-old Aarushi before killing her and Talwar’s domestic help Hemraj.

Another domestic help of Talwar’s neighbour – Vijay Mandal — was arrested on Friday for allegedly conspiring in the double murder, CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar said.

“We have informed the designated court in Ghazaiabad that the agency has not found any evidence against Talwar and that Noida Police (who arrested him on May 23) had also not found any evidence, the court may pass appropriate orders,” the CBI official said.

He said Krishna, compounder of Dr Talwar, emerged as ‘prime suspect’ as his psychological assessment test and polygraph test ‘revealed deception on all major points relating to the crime’.

“Krishna was subjected to brain finger printing and narco analysis test. He confessed his involvement in the crime along with his two other associates Raj Kumar (domestic help of Talwar’s family friend) and Vijay Mandal,” he said.

Trying to recreate the crime scene following the narco analysis of Krishna and Raj Kumar, arrested on June 28, the CBI joint director said all the three accused gathered at the room of Hemraj and consumed alcohol and later tried to sexually assault Arushi.

Expressing her gratitude to the CBI over the clean chit given by it, Nupur Talwar said, “Rajesh is innocent. Everyday I prayed for the truth to be revealed. I am really grateful and indebted to the CBI for carrying out the investigation in such a professional manner and letting the world know the truth.”

“We loved our child and lost her in such a manner. Now that the truth is revealed I think Arushi’s soul can rest in peace,” she told a television news channel and added that she wanted the ‘criminals to be punished’.

Talwars see a ray of light through dark clouds

It was tension and emotion-packed three hours for the Talwar family before CBI concluded that there was no evidence against teenaged murdered girl Arushi’s father Rajesh for her murder and a court granted bail to the man who is in jail for nearly two months.

The Talwars’ were choked with emotions and Nupur clasped her husband’s hand in a court here for more than three hours awaiting the findings of the CBI and the court order based on that.

As the news trickled in from CBI headquarters that the the agency gave Talwar a virtual clean chit, the family could see a ray of light across the dark clouds that have been over the family ever since Arushi’s murder.

You could read the the relief writ on the faces of the Talwars, especially those of the dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur, who have lived through a nightmare since May 23, the day the dentist was arrested by Noida police for allegedly killing his daughter.

“We have already said that he (Rajesh) is innocent and now the court should say so”, Dinesh Talwar, Rajesh’s brother, said soon after journalists told the Talwars about the CBI finding no evidence against the dentist.

“These have been turbulent times for us,” he said.
