‘‘Gohil hanged himself from a tree on the outskirts of Pipaliya village,’’ said PI Vallbhipur A K Parmar. ‘‘We have also found a suicide note addressed to Bhavnagar SP Anupamsinh Gehlot.’’

The medical report of the victim had suggested no evidence of rape. ‘‘In his suicide note, Gohil has said that the complaint is a conspiracy against him by PSI C K Babriya and former Sihor nagarpalika president Deepsinh Rathod,’’ Gehlot said. Babriya was earlier posted in Sihor.

Gehlot said that an inquiry into the suicide will be conducted by an officer of the Deputy SP rank.
