An Assam minister on Tuesday said he has urged Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to order a CBI probe into his own alleged involvement in a case of a missing couple.

State Industry and Power Minister Pradyut Bordoloi, also the government spokesman, told reporters in Guwahati that the probe was required to clear his image particularly after the Ripun Bora episode.

He said he had written to Gogoi to order a CBI probe after the Assam unit of NCP alleged that he was involved in the missing of Prasanna Turung and his wife since 2006.

Turung had unsuccessfully contested the Margherita assembly seat, which Bordoloi won in 2005.

Bora, the sacked education minister, was arrested in Delhi by CBI for trying to bribe one of its officers investigating the killing of a person, in which he was allegedly involved.
