CHANDIGARH, Dec 17: President of the Haryana Women’s Hockey Association Krishna Sampat Singh has congratulated the Indian women’s hockey team for its outstanding performance by qualifying for the final in the ongoing 13th Asian Games in Bangkok.

Congratulating the Indian captain Pritam Rani Thakran, who hails from Haryana, all members and the officials accompanying the team, Krishna Sampat Singh, who is also the vice-president of the Indian Women’s Hockey Federation, wished them success in the final against Korea to be played tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the HWHA president felt the immediate need for an astroturf in the state. She also wanted that the hockey players of the state should be given suitable jobs in the Government departments, boards and corporations. Most of the players move to other states where they get jobs.She praised the efforts of coach Baldev Singh who is imparting training with dedication in Shahbad Markanda.

In fact a number of women and men hockey players from Shahbah Markanda are doing duty for the country in the Bangkok Asian Games. Olympian Sanjeev Singh Dang, Olympian Gundeep Singh and international Baljit Singh Saini are among those who are the products of this tiny town of Haryana.
