
VADODARA, Feb 3: The Dahod rural police on Tuesday registered a case of attempt to murder against a bootlegger Surendrasinh Shankarsinh Mangla and his driver Takhtsinh Himmatsinh Bharphoda.
According to Special Inspector General of Police, Vadodara range, D D Tuteja, the bootleggers were coming from Madhya Pradesh with a large quantity of liquor in their vehicle. A team of Madhya Pradesh police on patrol duty at Mandvi chowki checkpost under Meghnagar police station in Jhabua district signalled them to stop on being suspicious.
However, the bootleggers did not stop and drove away fast. When the policemen raised alarm, three residents of Mandvi chowki chased the the duo in their vehicle. The duo threw liquor bottles on the road in order to puncture the wheels of the vehicle following them.
The chasing party, which was armed with their licensed guns, opened fire on the bootleggers and injured them. The bootleggers finally stopped at the Dahod (rural) police station and got the three persons rounded up on their complaint of firing on, and injuring them.
Meanwhile, the MP police also reached there immediately who briefed the Dahod police about the entire matter.
