GUAM, May 16: Indian pro Arjun Atwal had a superb day with a score of 67 and shot up into the third spot, behind American Jerry Smith and Chris Williams of England, in the penultimate round of the $ 200,000 Guam Open golf tournament at the Leo Palace Resort here today.

The other Indians in the fray were Vivek Bhandari (ninth), Gaurav Ghei (15th), Arjun Singh and Amritinder Singh (23rd) and Uttam Singh Mundy (29th).

Atwal moved into the third place on ten under par after carding an eagle, four birdies and a solitary bogey for a five under par 76. The Indian had good rounds of 70 and 69 on the first two days for a total of 206.

Bhandari was joint ninth two others after returning a three under par 69 today. He had 69 and 73 in the first two rounds. Ghei was at 15th position along with seven others with a total of 214 after also shooting 69 in the third round.
