Even before packing his bag for Australia for the tri-series, Indian speedster Sreesanth sent a warning to the Aussie team, saying that he is fit and raring to go. Sreesanth’s aggression has caused him some trouble and his rivalry with Australia’s Andrew Symonds has made headlines.
But the young pacer said nothing will change even now. “Be it Andrew Symonds or any other batsman in the world, I will just concentrate on performing well. Why does everyone talk about my rivalry with Symonds? There are so many batsmen in the world and I will not think about who I am bowling to. I will just concentrate on performing well. It really doesn’t matter to me what people say about me. I am fit and am raring to go. It’s not me who is worrying about the Australians. The Australians should be worried that I am coming back after some rest,” Sreesanth said.
Tempers have flared in both camps after the Sydney Test, and Sreesanth knows he will have to keep his cool in the tri-series.
“I need to restrain myself and I will do it. One shouldn’t hurt others’ emotions and I have learnt it gradually with time. Sreesanth will be Sreesanth, and I love this game. I will play it with passion. But I will always abide by the rules and will never do anything that will hamper the spirit of the game,” he said.
Sreesanth was ruled out of the Test series and said he regrets missing out on it. “I regret missing the Tests, but in case of injury one cannot help it. I will definitely speak to the pacers — R P Singh, Irfan Pathan and Ishant Sharma — about how they succeeded,” he said.
Sreesanth said he was happy to see Team India win at Perth. “I was training at the NCA with Munaf, Rohit Sharma and Badrinath. We all saw the match at the academy and with India winning we had great fun. We stopped cars on MG Road and asked people to shout ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Mata Di’. It was fun,” he quipped.
Sreesanth has been training at the NCA after he underwent Ayurvedic treatment for his injured shoulder. He said that the 48-day treatment had cured him completely.
