The Uttar Pradesh government today announced a Rs 1 crore package for development projects in Ayodhya.
Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister Azam Khan told reporters that Rs 40 lakh would be spent on construction of footpaths and Rs. 20 lakh on a park encircling the Sheesh Paigambar mausoleum.
Khan blamed the Raj Bhavan for the delay in giving assent to the Ali Jauhar Urdu University ordinance which was returned by the President for legal opinion.
He clarified that the ordinance was drafted after careful consideration by the UP Advocate General and the Law Department. The Bill is expected to be passed by the Vidhan Sabha in the current session and will be sent to the Governor for assent.
Azam Khan regretted the Union HRD Minister, Arjun Singh’s statement blaming Narasimha Rao for the demolition of the disputed structure in Ayodhya in 1992. He said all senior Congress leaders of the time were responsible for the act and all of them had remained mute spectators during the incident.
Khan said the Congress strategy to woo muslims by appointing Salman Khursheed as the UPCC president would not be a success.
