Baboor, Raman, Poulomi qualify for Sydney

NEW DELHI, MARCH 6: Four-time national champion Chetan Baboor, reigning national champion S Raman and former women’s winner Poulomi Ghatak have qualified to represent the country in the Sydney Omlmpics, scheduled later this year.

In the recent Asian Olympic qualifying tournament held in Hong Kong, Chetan Baboor was among the 11 qualifiers, having finished seventh in the men’s singles event.

Poulomi Ghatak qualified in the women’s section.

Chetan Baboor and S Raman, gold medallists in the Commonswealth Championships in two successive editions, qualified for men’s doubles in Sydney Olympics. In the Hong Kong tournament, the Indian pair were among the six pairs to make it to the Olympics. They defeated their opponents from Indonesia, Vietnam and Chinese Taipai to earn the berth for the Games.
