MUMBAI, May 24: Carry forward charges on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) continued to hover around 7-8 % for the fourth week.

Of the 60 stocks in which badla transactions were carried out on Saturday, six scrips attracted backwardation charges of 1-2 %: ABB (Re 0.15), Hero Honda (Rs 2.56), Hindalco (Re 0.29), ITC (Rs 2.05), Nestle (Re 0.08) and Siemens (Re 0.04).

Hero Honda attracted a backwardation charge of 24.57 % for carrying forward a net position of Rs 78.10 lakh.

“Uncertainty about petro-price hike and poor corporte results have had a negative impact on market sentiment,”said a broker.

SBI attracted the highest carry forward rate of 8.64 %, Tata Tea (8.59 %), Bajaj Auto (8.46 %) United Phosphorus (8.43 %) Reliance (8.08 %) Lakme (7.98 %) and ICICI (7.80 %)

The badla session on BSE recorded a total of 41.63 lakh shares, accounting for Rs 92.81 crore carried forward to the next settlement beginning on Monday.

The total number of shares carried forward to the next settlement has dipped 8.50 %, from 45.11 lakh shares on April 26 to a low of 41.63 lakh shares on May 24.
