JKLF leader Yaseen Malik was arrested by CBI here today on charges of funding militant outfits in Kashmir. Malik was arrested while coming out of the POTA court here, where he had appeared along with two other accused in connection with the seizure of $1,00,000 from two JKLF activists. The POTA judge, P.N. Razdan, after hearing Malik and his counsel fixed the case for August 23.
However, when he came out of the court, CBI sleuths picked him up in connection with a non-bailable warrant issued by special judge of the designated TADA court, S.N. Dhingra, at Delhi.
Sources said Malik was arrested following cancellation of his bail by Dhingra on July 5 last after he failed to appear before the court despite repeated summons in connection with a case of alleged funding of militant outfits.
Earlier, while granting bail, the TADA court had directed Malik to appear before Tilak Nagar police station on 16th of every month, where a case was registered against him in connection with alleged funding of militant outfits. The Delhi police had arrested Malik in 1992 on charges of receiving money from ISI for aiding and abetting militancy.
