SAS NAGAR, JULY 27: A Bal Khalsa march Sadi-vi-Suno, which was dedicated to the Army personnel who fought in the Kargil sector, was flagged off today from the Punjab School Education Board in the township to Anandpur Sahib by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Bibi Jagir Kaur.
The march has been organised by National Society of Child Artist in collaboration with Punjab School Education Board, to mark the holy birthday of Shaibzada Zorawar Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Bibi Jagir Kaur said it is an important need of the time that we should make all types of efforts in order to keep our children in touch with their religious heritage. Punjab School Education Board chairman, Dr Kehar Singh, said the future of our country was in the hands of its children. It is our duty to provide them all facilities for their overall development.
He said: "The coming generation will not forgive us, if we fail to create a healthy atmosphere and opportunities for a suitable career for our children."
Chairman of the society, Ajit Salani, said no society and community can prosper and develop without keeping its children in touch with its culture and religious heritage. He said the children are the foundation of the country’s future.
About 1,500 children from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal and Chandigarh took part in the march and it was led by 5 Amritdhari Bal panj piaras draped in saffron cholas, blue turbans and naked swords.
Environment awareness campaign
As part of the environment awareness campaign, the Environment Protection Society here would organise essay and painting competitions for students on July 29 in Phase III-B-1, Government Senior Secondary School.
Environment Protection Society, president, S.R.Chaudhri, said about students from various schools are expected to take part in these competitions.
This competition is held every year and at least 10 students per school are expected to participate. The theme for essay and painting competition will be announced at the spot.
