CHANDIGARH, Sept 28: The statements of three witnesses on a complaint filed by the allegd co-conspirator in the Burial jailbreak case, Baljit Singh alleging torture after being illegally detained by Chandigarh Police officials, was recorded today before the UT Chief Judicial Magistrate Sant Parkash. The complainant’s statement was also recorded.

The complaint filed by the accused on June 11, a day before his arrest, was referred to the SHO of Sector 39 police station for investigation, following which the defence had moved the Sessions Court. The complaint was then referred to Chief Judicial Magistrate Sant Parkash.

Alleging torture, Baljit Singh, had stated that he was illegally detained by the police for over 10 hours. He had further alleged that electric current was administered to his private parts by the police officials after he was picked up from his Sector 40 residence on June 9 morning.

Today, Charanjit Singh, an "eye witness" to Baljit Singh being allegedly picked up by the police, Gurdip Singh, witness to his "release" and Jasbir Singh, who had reportedly sent telegrams to police officers and human rights organisations, got their statements recorded. The case will now come up on October 10 before the CJM.
