PANCHKULA, January 15: Keeping in view the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the District Magistrate, Panchkula has enforced Section 144 in the district. All the armed licence holders of the district have been instructed to deposit their respective licenced weapons with the DC office immedia-tely. The enforcement has been ordered to maintain law and order in the district during the coming elections, informed Panchkula DC, Saroj Siwatch.

The prohibitory orders have been issued against carrying of any type of arms in the district, she said. A ban has also been imposed on assembling of five or more persons at the public places in the

district. She said the enforcement will remain in order till the election procedures are completed.

It may be recalled here that the Ambala Lok Sabha constituency goes to polls on February 16. In all, 286 polling booths have been set up in the district and the counting of votes will be done at the community centre of the BEL employees’ residential colony, Siwatch added.
