CHANDIGARH, Oct 6: The District Bar Association general house today condemned the alleged illegal detention and assault on local advocate Arunjeev Singh Walia by Punjab Police officials posted at police station (Central) in S.A.S. Nagar.

During its emergency meeting, the members also decided to take "strict action" against the "erring cops". According to president, a criminal contempt petition would be filed in the High Court by the District Bar Association.

The secretary of the association, Jagtar Singh, was authorised to sign documents and engage counsel on the Association’s behalf, it was stated.
