NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 10: Cricket Board’s anti-corruption commissioner K Madhavan will cross-examine those named in the CBI report on match-fixing in Chennai from Saturday.
Madhavan, a former joint director in the CBI, was appointed by board Chief A C Muthaiah for a probe soon after CBI submitted its 162-page report to the government naming five cricketers and a former physiotherapist.
“I will cross-examine the persons named in the CBI report from Saturday in Chennai and the process is going to continue till Monday,” Madhavan told PTI here.
Madhavan said so far he had received confirmation from six persons for appearing before the commission. However, he refused to name them.
The anti-corruption commissioner had stated earlier that he would be summoning former skippers Mohammed Azharuddin, Ajay Jadeja, former all-rounder Manoj Prabhakar, prolific Delhi batsman Ajay Sharma, wicketkeeper Nayan Mongia, former physio Ali Irani, groundsman of Ferozshah Kotla Ram Adhar and some BCCI officials.
Meanwhile, BCCI sources said Prabhakar, Sharma and Azhar were likely to be cross-examined on Saturday while Mongia, Jadeja and Irani were likely to be questioned on Sunday.
However, it was not immediately clear whether Adhar, who has been asked to explain by the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) following CBI allegation that he had received Rs 50,000 to prepare a tailor-made pitch from Sharma and bookie Mukesh Gupta, would also be summoned to Chennai.
