Hard-Core criminal turns good guy for the love of a child. This oft-repeated theme is the story of Jaanwar one that’s badly handled by Suneel Darshan. Over-dramatisation, over acting and over hamming has made an otherwise emotionally charged story a torture to watch.

Badshah, (Akshay Kumar), an orphan, gets picked up by Sultan (Shakti Kapoor) who makes him commit a crime for every meal that is offered to him. Thus an innocent village boy turns into a dreaded criminal. That is, till he meets Sapna (Karishma Kapoor). But, obviously things go wrong and he finds himself on the run. He then meets a child (separated from his parents in a train accident) who changes his whole life. At first, Badshah decides to leave the kid (Aditya Kapadia) at a mazhar (do orphanges no longer?) but then decides to take care of the kid himself. He goes to Sapna for help, but Sapna, who is already angry at him for leaving her stranded at the altar, flies off the handle when she sees the child. She throws him out of thehouse accusing him of lying to her and of being already married.

With acting that looks totally forced and unnatural, this otherwise heart-rendering story is a big disappointment.
