The Bihar government today suspended Beur jail superintendent P.K. Jha and two other staff members for allowing a large number of ‘‘unauthorised” persons to enter the jail premises to meet incarcerated RJD MP from Madhepura, Pappu Yadav, recently. Yadav is lodged in Beur Central Jail in connection with the CPI-M MLA Ajit Sarkar murder case.Bihar Jail Minister Raghvendra Pratap Singh said here that Jha, who was recently transferred to Sasaram jail, assistant jailor Arjun Prasad Singh and head warden Rambali Prasad were suspended. Jha was served a showcause notice on December 2, asking why a large number of Pappu Yadav’s supporters were allowed to meet him without proper identification marks.Yadav’s supporters had a scuffle with the jail staff on December 1, when IG (Prisons) Deepak Kumar Singh, who was on a visit, asked them to vacate the premises. Taking cognizance of media reports about the scuffle, the SC had asked the CBI to probe and asked the IG (Prisons) to submit a report on or before December 13.
