CHANDIGARH, Nov 3: Unbeaten centuries by Gaurav Gupta (111 not out) and Bhageshwar (105) enabled Chandigarh to gain upper hand against Kapurthala who were skittled for 89 runs in the opening day of the two-day match of the Punjab Inter-District cricket tournament today. Chandigarh were 265 for 5 in 71 overs at close of play.

Kamal Walia and Nitin Bansal placed Mohali in the driver’s seat against Fatehgarh Sahib on the opening day of the two-day Punjab Inter-District (Under 16) cricket tournament here today.

Kamal hit 126 while Nitin scored 81 as Mohali flayed the rival attack to pile up an imposing first-innings total of 417 for 8. At close, Mohali seamers Tej Grover and Parmjeet struck thrice to reduce the visitors to a precarious three for 2.
