The new-found camaraderie between Karat and BSP chief Mayawati is on a precarious footing, if the terms of endearment were any signal. At the press conference after the meeting of leaders from Left-UNPA-BSP-JDS-RLD organised at Mayawati’s residence, the BSP chief requested “Bhai Mr Prakash Karat” to brief the media after the meeting. Whether Comrade Karat liked being called “Mr” Karat is anybody’s guess, but the political circles jumped on the “Bhai” that the UP Chief Minister had called Karat. That’s what she used to call BJP leader Lalji Tandon before he became Lalchi (avaricious) Tandon for her.
