PATIALA, Nov 12: After getting a 96-run first-innings lead, Chandigarh were placed in a comfortable position against Jalandhar at close of play on second day of the M.L. Marken under-16 trophy being played at Dhruve Pandove Cricket Stadium here today. The Chandigarh lads made 40 runs for the loss of one wicket in their second innings, taking team’s total lead to 146 runs.

Earlier Jalandhar were bundled out for 241 runs in 62.4 overs. The wrecker-in-chief was Sahi bhatia, who took seven wickets for 99 runs. Amardeep chipped in two wickets for 71 runs.
Brief scores: Chandigarh (Ist innings): 337 for 7 in 90 overs (Vikas Bhalla 86, Rahul Arora 91, Manav Asopa 34, Manpartap 29 n.o., Rajat Bhatia 27 n.o., Ishan Malhotra 5 for 94).

Jalandhar (Ist innings): 241 all out in 62.4 overs (Amit Behl 79, Gaurav Sharma 54, Jatinder Pal 28, Manik Kohli 36, Sahil Bhatia 7-99, Amardeep 2-71. Chandigarh (2nd innings): 40 for 1.

Mohindra College win
Government Mohindra College, Patiala retained the Punjabi University basketball championship (men). The second position was scored by Government Rajindra College, Bathinda and Government College of Physical Education rested with third position.

Government Mohindra College, Patiala defeated Government College of Physical Education, Patiala by 81-61 and Government Mohindra College, beat SBSC, Kotakpura 85-45. In yet other match, Government Mohindra College, outpointed Government Rajindra College, Bathinda by 93-49.

Double for Suneli MULTANI Mal Modi College, Patiala and Government College for Girls, Patiala bagged titles in the men’s and women’s section, respectively, in the Inter-College cycling championship at the Punjabi University campus, here today.

Suneli Chugh got first place in 1000-meter time trial and 3000-meter individual pursuit events in women’s group.
