Film director Madhur Bhandarkar on Friday got a four-day breather when a sessions court directed Mumbai police not to arrest him till July 27.

A model, Priya Jain, had lodged a complaint with Versova police alleging that Bhandarkar had raped her and had broken several promises to cast her in his films.

Bhandarkar had moved court on Friday seeking anticipatory bail. Principal Judge R.R. Vacha, while restraining police from arresting Bhandarkar, adjourned the matter till July 27.

For the 34-year-old director, the enormity of the issue is just beginning to sink in. ‘‘I’m willing to cooperate with police, there’s nothing to hide,’’ he says.
