PUNE, Feb 18: The Bhimsen Joshi chair established at Centre for Performing Arts (CPA) in the University of Pune in the honour of the legendry classical vocalist will be formally inaugurated on February 22.
The chair, which was established in April last year, after receiving Rs 35 lakh grant from the State Government, will be inguarated by a performance of the eminent classical vocalist of Kirana Gharana Gangubai Hangal.
The 75-year-old doyen of Hindustani classical music, who will himself be present on the occasion, is likely to give a first public performance after his prolonged illness.
