In response to his request seeking time till January 19 to appear for the interrogation in the multi-crore fake stamps scam, the SIT has allowed Sameer Bhujbal, nephew of former Maharashtra deputy CM Chhagan Bhujbal, to present himself latest by January 14.

Sameer, nephew of former Deputy CM Chhagan Bhujbal, is under the scanner for his alleged links with Telgi and friendship with oil baron Antim Totla. The political heir of his uncle Chhagan, he is now sought by the SIT for questioning in the fake stamps case.

He has been a troubleshooter all along for the NCP since the heady days when he was asked to bridle runaway legislators during the political crisis in 2000. Party circles recount how an independent MLA tried to escape from the ruling camp and how he was intercepted by Sameer and his team on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. And also how a rebel NCP legislator—unwilling to come to Mumbai—was hounded near Nashik by a team led by Sameer.

Sameer finds himself under cloud now. His uncle’s tall claims that no one from his family has any links with Telgi is now ringing hollow.
