Wimbledon, July 5: India’s Mahesh Bhupathi and his partner Rika Hiraki of Japan crashed to their first ever Grand Slam mixed doubles defeat in the third round here. Rick Leach (USA) and Manon Bollegraf (The Netherlands), the fifth seed, defeated them 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. Thus, the Indian challenge in the mixed doubles has come to an end.

Yesterday, Leander Paes and Ruxandra Dragomir of Romania, lost in the quarterfinals. Playing against third-seeded pair of Andrei Olhovskiy of Russia and Latvian Larisa Nieland, Paes-Dragomir pair went down 3-6 6-7 (5-7).
