Bihar Governor Justice M. Rama Jois resigned today. Considered close to the Sangh Parivar, sources say, it was only a matter of time before he was asked to move out after the UPA Government came to power at the Centre. His single-line resignation letter to the President did not cite any reason. ‘‘He has requested the resignation to be effective from November 1,’’ said a sources in the Raj Bhawan.
Jois’ Republic Day speech had triggered a controversy earlier this year. Pulling up the Bihar government for the deteriorating law and order situation, the Governor had said, ‘‘It’s a matter of concern.’’
Jois’ recent article in an RSS publication did not help either. He was the Governor of Jharkhand before being shifted to Patna in 2003. Jois had over a year’s term left.
