NEW DELHI, JAN 29: Bihar Governor S S Bhandari, who met Union Home Minister L K Advani today, said the State needed a "better administration".Asked by reporters after his meeting with the Home Minister as to how he felt about the law and order situation in the State, Bhandari said, "There should be a better administration in Bihar".
Bhandari, who arrived here last night, is understood to have apprised Advani of the State’s law and order situation in the wake of Monday’s massacre of 22 people in Jehanabad district by gunmen of the Ranvir Sena. He, however, parried questions on the possibility of imposition of President’s Rule in the State, saying, “It is for the Centre to decide and act. President K R Narayanan has himself made a strong remark on the massacre".
The Governor also evaded questions whether he had submitted any report to the Centre on the law and order situation in the State.
While the main Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party-Samata Party combine has demanded the Rabri Devi Government’sdismissal, the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal has charged the combine with having a "nexus" with the Ranvir Sena.a private army of upper caste landlords.
