The Central Bureau of Investigation today arrested an Assistant Director of Income Tax in Dhanbad and recovered Rs 1 crore in cash from his house.
Swarn Singh, Additional Director, Income Tax (Investigation) in Dhanbad, was arrested for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 15 lakh and accepting Rs 1 lakh from a businessman.
According to the CBI, the accused demanded a bribe from the businessman, the complainant, for settling I-T accounts in his favour. He allegedly also told the businessman to hand over the money to some other person on his behalf. Both have been arrested.
According to a release, searches at the accused’s residence yielded Rs 1 crore cash. The agency also seized FDR worth Rs 12.5 in cash and jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh.
