Karnataka Chief Minister S.M. Krishna has ordered a probe into the sterling performance of some students from UP and Bihar in the CET this year which has baffled college managements.None of these students did so well in their qualifying exams and not all of them cleared Std XII this year. The few who did passed out in previous years but sat the CET this year. The oldest among them is Amit Kumar Jha who cleared his Std XII exam in 1994 with 66.3 per cent in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB). His CET rank was 78, and he got an MBBS seat in MS Ramaiah college. Atif Khalid Ansari from Bihar, who got 54 per cent in Std XII, was ranked 11.Alarmed by complaints from college managements, Krishna appointed IAS officer B.A. Harish Gowda to inquire into the admissions made against non-Karnataka quota seats. Gowda was CET Cell Special Officer for four years.
