PHILLAUR (JALANDHAR), DECEMBER 7: Chandigarh's Abhinav Bindra broke his own National record (588) by five points but missed the World record (594) by a whisker in the 10 metres Air rifle event at the 43rd National Shooting championship on Monday.Abhinav started with a perfect 100 in the very first card. His previous National record came at the Oceania International shooting championship at Sydney last month. The next Champion: Abhinav is the next champion, National coach Prof Sunny Thomas said. ``He is perfect, consistent and a young man with great skills and strong nerves,'' Thomas said soon after Abhinav set the Record.``He has emerged a big source of inspiration in terms of competition for others. In the Nationals, to cross a mark of 580 always seemed to be a big barrier for Indian shooters. But inspired by Abhinav's performance,. six others too crossed the mark. That will remain the most remarkable event of this championship.''Aiming for Sydney: Abhinav himsel feels he has beenconsistently scoring above 585 in competitions and much higher in training. ``This record is not have much importance for me,'' he said.A passport to Sydney is what the teenager is actually aiming for. He has to first qualify for the Olympics and next month's Asian meet in Malaysia provides the stage.
