The counsel for the Birlas and the Lodhas on Tuesday failed to agree over the wording of a status quo order proposed by Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta of the Calcutta High Court regarding the estate of the late Priyamvada Birla.

The Birla clans are seeking the appointment of an administrator for the assets purportedly bequeathed by Birla to her lieutenant, Rajendra S. Lodha, during the hearing of his probate application.

Justice Sengupta proposed an interim order directing status quo in respect of the estate/ property/ assets of Priyamvada Birla which are said to have been passed on to the Lodhas.

Meanwhile, Justice P.N. Sinha of the Calcutta High Court was today assigned the criminal case filed by the Birlas against Rajendra S. Lodha, which was ‘released’ yesterday by Justice D.P. Sengupta citing ‘compelling circumstances’.
