ISE completes 15 settlements
MUMBAI: The Inter-Connected Stock Exchange of India Ltd (ISE) has successfully completed 15 settlements since commencement of trading on February 26, 1999. Movement of money and securities among the 11 participating stock exchanges has taken place without any hitch. ISE has helped greatly the spread of demat cult as over 90 per cent of the securities were settled in demat mode.
M R Mayya, chairman of ISE told the press that the board of ISE has recently approved registration of Stock Holding Corporation of India Ltd as the first custodian of ISE and also approved the listing of BSES Ltd as first company to be listed on ISE. Mayya added that some more proposals for registration of custodians have been received by ISE because of the wide spread of ISE across the country.
Tata Donnelley net grows 14 pc
MUMBAI: Tata Donnelley has reported a 14 per cent higher net profit at Rs 10.45 crore for the financial year 1998-99 on a turnover of Rs 79.80 crore as against Rs71.30 crore in the previous year. The company declared a dividend of 50 per cent compared to 45 per cent in the previous year, a company statement said here today.
During the year under review, the gross profit of the company increased from 19.89 crore to Rs 21.58 crore, while the total income rose by 11 per cent from Rs 76.85 crore to Rs 86.11 crore.
The company’s profit before tax rose to Rs 15.45 crore which is an increase of 17 per cent over Rs 13.19 crore last year after providing Rs 3 lakh for the voluntary retirement scheme as against Rs 55 lakh last year.
Nokia announces launch of its lightest phone
NEW DELHI: Nokia today announced the launch its latest premium category lightest mobile phone weighing just 91 gm, aimed at the upwardly mobile and affluent class.
The phone likely to be shipped from factories by next quarter is an extension of its 8810 model introduced last year. The phone will be available in Indian market by October this year, a company release said.
The new featuresof the phone include voice dialling that allows the user to store upto eight voice tags in the phone memory. The phone will have a talk time of three hours and 20 minutes and standby time of upto 150 minutes.
