
Tata Tea net profit falls
MUMBAI: Tata Tea Ltd’s income from operations and net profit have fallen in the first quarter of 1999-2000 as a result of decline in production and depressed prices. The net profit was down to Rs 26.09 crore during April-June 1999 from Rs 39.10 crore in the corresponding period of last year. Income from operations was lower at Rs 213.56 crore compared to Rs 223.24 crore in the first quarter of 1998-99. Interest payment was down at Rs 5.05 crore from Rs 6.01 crore, but total expenditure was up to Rs 165.25 crore from Rs 156.78 crore.
MUMBAI: Britannia Industries Ltd (BIL) has reported a 22 per cent jump in net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 1999 to Rs 10.6 crore, from Rs 8.7 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Sales increased 22 per cent during April-June 1999 to Rs 286.6 crore mainly through buoyant biscuit and cake operations and consolidation of dairy business. BIL’s bakery business grew by 20per cent and dairy business by 45 per cent during the quarter.
BPCL reports 25 pc rise in net profit
MUMBAI: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd has posted a 25 per cent surge in net profit during the first quarter of the current fiscal to touch Rs 201.6 crore from Rs 161.1 crore a year earlier. Gross turnover stood at Rs 6,972.1 crore as against Rs 6,230 crore while net sales was Rs 5,910.6 crore as against Rs 5,057 crore. Other income was Rs 30.1 crore while total expenses stood at Rs 5,547 crore. The company said its sales were 4.62 million tonnes, up 9.9 per cent.
Punjab Tractors Q1 profit up 25.4 pc
NEW DELHI: Punjab tractors has posted a 25.4 per cent jump in net profits during the first quarter of 1999-2000 financial year to Rs 35 crore from Rs 27.9 crore a year ago. The board of directors of the company recommended 65 per cent dividend for the year. Total revenue stood at Rs 275.60 crore as against Rs 237.20 crore last year.
