Accusing the UPA government of colluding with ULFA, the BJP today demanded that those involved in the blasts in Assam and Nagaland be brought to book.
‘‘The serial explosions in Nagaland and Assam which have claimed 70 innocent lives, have shocked the nation and reminded us of the serial blast that shook Mumbai in 1992-93. It is not just negligence but guilt of a greater order,’’ said Leader of Opposition L.K. Advani.
‘‘The Congress Government in Assam gave protection to ULFA which in turn gave patronage to Congress candidates. No wonder, the extremist organisation has felt emboldened to carry out its murderous activities with impugnity,’’ he added.
Advani’s caustic comments followed a meeting of senior BJP leaders at former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s residence in the morning. The leaders had gathered to assess the situation in Assam and Nagaland following the serial blasts.
