The BJP will form specific groups to handle manifesto drafting, issue projection, advertisement and campaign and media management ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. A meeting of all NDA partners will take place on January 22 at the residence of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani. After the first meeting of the newly-formed Central Election Management Committee on Tuesday, the party announced the formation of a dedicated group to study the effect of delimitation on its electoral prospects.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said: “297 seats in Lok Sabha have been with the BJP at least once since 1989. The Decision Implementation Group has been assigned with the task to look into the effects of delimitation.”
The BJP, which in the present Lok Sabha holds 138 seats, has plans to assess its chances in all these seats through its sitting MPs, while the remaining 159 seats would be surveyed by a 30-member team and each member will be responsible for five constituencies.
“The group has been assigned the task to look into the reasons for losses and factors which would assure a victory for the party candidates,” Swaraj added. “The mood of the meeting on Tuesday was upbeat and steps are being taken to convert this positive mood into a major electoral win,” she said.
