
CHANDIGARH, June 28: The BJP Mahila Morcha would soon expand its activities in the region and strengthen its worker network to further help awaken the women in today’s society.
Addressing media persons here today, the All-india president of the BJP Mahila Morcha Maya Singh said while she had already visited Himachal and UT, she would be now visiting Punjab, where she would address a workers sammelan at Mukerian tomorrow. She earlier addressed a similar sammelan at Gandhi Smarak Bhawan here today, after addressing another one at Shimla yesterday.
Singh said that an awakening among the women had come and the BJP Mahila Morcha was trying to find such women who could come forward to contest the forthcoming polls. She said though no quota would be fixed for women workers of the morcha, she said “we were ascertaining where women could win in various constituencies all over the country ffor which she was travelling.”
She expressed confidence in the party leadership that adequate representation would be accorded to women in the distribution off tickets in the forthcoming polls.
Incicating to Sonia Gandhi, Mayawati and Jayalalitha, she cautioned women ffrom emulating them as they were lowering political values. She called upon women workers to fight such women and not let them hog the limelight.
