Encouraged by the Goa and Jharkhand events, the BJP on Monday tried to press home the advantage by attacking the Congress for the “misdeeds” of Shakti Kapoor. Alleging that actors Shakti Kapoor and Nagma had been the “star campaigners” for the Congress during the Lok Sabha polls, BJP spokesman V.K.Malhotra demanded that the party “should apologise” for bringing such people to the fore.
According to him, Nagma was alleged to have “links with the underworld” and “the way Shakti Kapoor has been caught on camera shows what kind of man he is.” Malhotra also attacked the Congress for celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Dandi March.
By imposing VAT, salt was being taxed for the first time since independence, he said.
