BANGALORE, Dec 15: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will go to people in the coming Lok Sabha elections seeking a clear mandate for the party, said B S Yediyurappa, BJP leader in Karnataka Assembly.
To achieve this, the BJP is taking out a national rally on December 25, Yediyurappa said, adding, the BJP National Executive Council would meet at Bhubaneshwar from December 18 to 20 to chalk out the strategy for the rally.
The office bearers of state BJP, including all MLAs, MPs and district presidents would meet in the city on December 25. The state unit has decided to conduct the rally in all the 224 Assembly constituencies, he added. He told mediapersons here on Sunday that the BJP was the only alternative party in the country and that it was the front runner in Karnataka too.
The office bearers of the party had already toured all the 28 constituencies two times and received a good response from the public, he claimed. The main objective of the Bharatiya Janata Party was to rout the Congress, he added.
Yediyurappa predicted that the ruling Janata Dal Government in the state would fall after the Lok Sabha elections.
Lamenting the recent statement made by state Janata Dal president B L Shankar that Patel need not resign even if Janata Dal loses some seats in the Lok Sabha elections, Yediyurappa said that Janata Dal was in its death bed due to internal squabbles.
Ridiculing the three years of Janata Dal rule in the state, Yediyurappa said that the way the government was imposing taxes on people, it would soon enter the Guinness Book of World Records. The poor were burdened with heavy taxes while the ministers were on their regular foreign jaunts, he said.Regarding alliances, Yediyurappa said, “We are open-minded about alliances with any party other than the Congress and the Janata Dal and we are open for talks. So far no one has approached us and we will take a decision when the time comes.”
When asked whether senior party leader H N Nanje Gowda was quitting the party, Yediyurappa reiterated that it was just a rumour and that the party’s relationship with Nanje Gowda was cordial. “He is our friend and a leader,” he said.
