A bomb went off today in the bathroom of Nepal’s Customs Department, disrupting business but inflicting no casualties, police said.

The bomb was planted in a women’s bathroom and took out a large section of wall when it exploded, said police Sub-Inspector Ravi Kant Aryal. Police suspect one person planted the device but ran away before it went off.

4 held for police chief’s murder
KATHMANDU: Four people have been arrested in connection with the assassination of Nepal’s police Chief Krishna Mohan Shreshtha, a Defence ministry spokesman said on Tuesday. Police had arrested one suspect, Krishna Hari Sainju, who was found lying at the site of the incident with a bullet injury, while three others were arrested on the basis of the information given by him, he said. ‘‘There are plenty of splinters, but no injuries,’’ Aryal said.

Police immediately cordoned off the building near Army headquarters.

About 100 staffers at the Customs Department rushed to the courtyard after hearing the explosion, carrying their files with them, witnesses said.

Nearby residents said they felt tremors in their houses from the explosion.
