MUMBAI, May 30: Mumbai’s tar roads may be full of pot-holes this monsoon with the standing committee today rejecting a proposal to award contracts for spot repairs to private firms.
Members of the committee, including the chairman Sardar Tara Singh, were opposed to the Rs 12-crore proposal on the ground that it was too expensive.
Shiv Sena’s Nandu Satam said the BMC should not spent such a huge amount. He suggested that the ward offices repair the roads within their jurisdiction. A K Bastiwala of the Congress questioned the proposal of spenting money in concretising of roads. All the members then came together and rejected it.
