While mystery shrouded the death of Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer, his widow Gill today said she did not suspect foul play in his death in a Jamaican hotel on Sunday. Woolmer died aged 58 after being found unconscious in his hotel room the morning after his side’s shock defeat by Ireland.

“I don’t see any conspiracy in his death,” Gill told NDTV. She even rubbished claims of match-fixing being at the heart of Woolmer’s death.

Gill said she was aware that Woolmer was struggling to cope with the stress that his job brought: “He never mentioned anything about being under pressure, but obviously, seeing his pictures on television, it was enough to know that he was under pressure by the expression on his face.

“He was tired. His was a very tough job and involved a lot of travelling. The long journeys and time differences made it a very difficult job,” she said.
