After a long layoff, the former England skipper and popular television broadcaster Geoff Boycott will back on air again. Looking visibly weak after days of chemotherapy for his throat cancer, Boycott said, ‘‘tough I have just 75 per cent strength, I am pleased to be back on air.’’

Featuring in a show on ESPN with former and present India skippers Sunil Gavaskar and Saurav Ganguly, Boycott said that ‘‘India is now my second home and I am very comfortable here. I love cricket and in India I share my passion with other cricket nuts.’’

Boycott said that he won’t be doing match commentary for some time because of his health but will be a regular feature in this show. And even this assignment would to be quite hectic since the second episode of this show — it features Boycott, Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar — would be shot in Kolkata at the Durga Pooja pandals.

Despite Boycott popping up pills now and then while talking to the media, his ready wit was very much evident. Asked if he watched Yuvraj Singh during his stint at Boycott’s home county Yorkshire, pat came the reply: ‘‘If I were five minutes late for the match, I would have missed him.’’ The statement just highlighted the Indian star’s run drought there.
