PANCHKULA, May 12: As many as 280 women from rural and urban areas visited an "Early Breast Cancer Detection and Education Camp" held in General Hospital, Sector 6, here today.

Dr Sanjiv Trehan, a surgeon, said, "All premenoupausal women should examine their breasts just after monthly mensus. All women should get a baseline memography done at the age of 35 years." He said that more than 10 per cent of the women examined in the camp had lumps.

Dr H.C. Nagpal, Civil Surgeon, emphasised on the importance of self-examination in detecting breast cancer at an early stage. Literature in connection with self examination was also distributed. A lecture on AIDS was also delivered by Dr S. Malik, who emphasised on preventive measures.

Meanwhile, the Indian Red Cross Society, UT branch, launched a First Aid Training Programme for senior students at St. Kabir Public School, Sector 26, in collaboration with St. John Ambulance. The programme will cover all UT schools in phases.
