Chennai, April 10: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has prepared an improved draft bill covering various aspects of broadcasting including delivery monopoly of transmission signals and obscenity on TV.

Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Arun Jaitley said the Bill is with the Law Ministry for approval. The Bill was originally drafted in 1997, but had to be improved upon to suit keep pace with technology.

An expert team has been constituted to suggest measures to improve the quality and credibility of Doordarshan and AIR. The report, which is expected soon, will be discussed by the Government before being forwarded to the Prasar Bharati.
